Perimenopause is the transition phase before menopause when your hormones start to fluctuate. Symptoms may include irregular periods, hot flushes, mood changes, brain fog, and disrupted sleep even while you’re still having periods.
Your first appointment with Dr. Sian Hebron lasts around an hour. You’ll discuss your symptoms, health history, goals, and any past treatments. During this session, options are explored together, including medical, hormonal, and lifestyle-based strategies.
Yes. If appropriate, we prescribe body-identical HRT regulated, TGA-approved, and often PBS-subsidised. We’ll talk through risks, benefits, and tailor your treatment to suit your health and preferences.
I prescribe body-identical hormones, which are regulated, TGA-approved, and often PBS-subsidised. These are molecularly identical to the hormones your body naturally makes, with well-established safety profiles.
I don’t prescribe compounded “bioidentical” hormones from private clinics, as these aren’t regulated, and their safety and consistency can’t be guaranteed.
If you’re not sure what the difference is, don’t worry, we’ll explain it all in plain English during your consultation, so you can make informed choices with confidence.
That’s completely okay. I offer non-hormonal options, including lifestyle advice, nutrition support, evidence-based supplements, and medications that can help with symptoms like hot flushes, mood swings, or sleep issues.
No referral is required. You can book directly either for an in-person consultation on the Sunshine Coast or a telehealth appointment from anywhere in Australia.
Yes. Hormone changes can affect your mood, memory, and energy levels. It’s common to feel unlike yourself during perimenopause or menopause but support is available, and symptoms can improve with the right care.
Not all HRT is the same. If you’ve had a poor experience in the past, we can explore different formulations, dosages, or methods of delivery. I’ll work with you to find what actually helps, no pressure, just options.
Yes. I provide follow-up consultations (in-person or via telehealth), and many women appreciate ongoing support as their symptoms and needs evolve.
Not necessarily. Age is a factor, but it’s not a hard no, it just means we need to consider things a little more carefully.
If you’re over 60 or it’s been more than 10 years since your last period, starting MHT can carry a slightly higher risk of things like blood clots or stroke depending on your overall health. But for many women, the benefits, like reduced hot flushes, improved sleep, vaginal comfort, bone protection, and better quality of life still outweigh the risks.
We will work together to take a case-by-case approach, looking at your personal and family history, heart health, and lifestyle. Sometimes I’ll suggest starting low and slow, or exploring other treatments first. But being older doesn’t automatically rule you out.
If symptoms are affecting your quality of life, it’s always worth having the conversation.
If menopause is affecting your mood, energy, sleep, or quality of life, you don’t have to push through it alone. Book a menopause consultation today in person on the Sunshine Coast or via telehealth anywhere in Australia and take the first step toward feeling like yourself again.
